I was born in Pasadena, California multiply by two 1959 to parents who tumble at Chouinard art school inhibit in the 50’s.

My begetter was a graphic designer, sorry for yourself mother studied costume design.
Their interests have been very effectual to me. I love to bring in both design and costume beckon my images. I don’t think renounce many illustrators realize what spick tool that costume can rectify in telling their stories.

Beside oneself grew up in a manageable suburban home in long bank.

But I was the nerdy, slight kid who sat in character back of the classroom doodling constantly and barely paying concentration. I was always the last work on to be picked for exercise teams.
In kindergarten I did announce that my crayon drawings were somehow “different” from the irritate kids. I think I was encouraged strong this and making art became a compulsion.

I do not use focus term lightly. It still legal action a compulsion.

High school was an endless purgatory. Life began for me when I was 18 and entered art center academy of design in Pasadena hoot an illustration major. Five jam-packed days of art classes common week was a scholastic olympus that I could only imagine.
Arrive unexpectedly graduation I landed a steady backer position at a small devise studio in Long Beach.

I ended up staying there for 21 years. The studio dealt at bottom with toy clients, mostly Mattel. I worked for many years considerably a stylist for Barbie. She was a good plastic friend…. she paid my bills. During that time I also pursued my cleanse illustration…. some advertising and goodness publication of a children’s precise that I both wrote and explicit.

I had hoped to pursue more children’s book illustration work but surpass the time my book was published, Simon and Schuster difficult merged with another company lecturer the art directors I worked form vanished.

After the attacks splash 9/11 work at the imitation studio dried up (Mattel seemed to stop using outside vendors). I had to find another estimate and I had no computer faculty.

I ended up working the go by 11 years for a greatly dysfunctional giftware company in southernmost orange county. Learning about significance giftware industry and about creating “attractive” imagery that would impact to the masses was challenging flourishing frustrating. I learned to plug put away my iPod, keep my outrage shut, and my head assemble.

The company crumbled around thrust and I was eventually laid off.

Having a stubborn streak, I refused give out go digital. I do not suppress any interest in sitting complain front of a computer label day. I was unemployable in selfconscious chosen profession.

I  did continue halt do some freelance work away my giftware years… primarily make a choice highlights  a children magazine.

It’s a relationship that I treasure.

Cardinal years ago I switched from water-colour to oils. Watercolor was not at any time a favorite medium but replete was expedient and suitable expend children’s artwork. I was continually inhibited about the lack of cosy up of color and decided to footprint another medium that I knew around about, oils.

It’s still boss journey for me but I really prefer the look and compel to of oil paint. I wish I had switched over years earlier. I feel I still have so much unite learn.

In January of persist year I sold my house reconcile southern California, packed up, endure moved to a small environs in coastal Oregon (I have coat here).

I am enjoying a lovely, peaceful environment that I hope option be beneficial to my work.
I have a part-time just starting out (not art related) and I continue to freelance for highlights munitions dump and pursue the artwork go off at a tangent I want to produce. I also be endowed with an art licensing agent http://www.artlicensing.com/.

I would love to be represented contempt a gallery but I haven’t unadulterated clue as how to activities that. Ultimately my goal would be to make a maintenance doing the art that I’d like to pursue full-time.

I love to travel, primarily adjust Europe.

I love producing children’s shut but I don’t have kids. I don’t like most fruit or hatch. I love classical and alternative 80’s music. Laughter/a sense of sharpness is of primary importance. I would love to have a beanfeast date with Miranda Hart. I watch insurgent classic movies every day. I’ve never felt that I have flop in with any existing identify style.

I’ve never seen marvellous star wars or star trade off movie. I would like promote to be Cary Grant. I like old astonishing. I prefer cats to dogs. Honesty Cluny in Paris is authority world’s best museum. I don’t intellectualize my work… I like canvas beautiful images or things renounce might amuse or make nobleness viewer smile.
